Police Storm Worship Services to Ensure Everyone is Masked-Up
Parishioners at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church were stunned when police abruptly interrupted their worship gathering.
No, there wasn’t a threat of violence or any hint of danger.
But police barged in anyway, disrupting the church service, simply to see if mass attendees were “wearing a mask” – and just wait until you hear the details.
You just can’t make this stuff up.
One can’t even imagine the fear these church attenders felt when suddenly police officers stormed in without warning.
Of all places, church is supposed to be a “safe place” – where people can gather together as believers to praise the Lord.
Matthew was a parishioner in the service during the raid and explains what happened.
The Chronicle reported:
“Everyone was pretty surprised. It was pretty confronting,” he told 6PR radio on Friday.
“Everyone was sort of pretty stunned, I suppose. Then as soon as it started it was sort of over as he left.”
Matthew said people were left shaken by the incident.
“It’s just pretty confronting seeing police vests and stuff in church,” he said.
Of course it is!
The raid was completely inappropriate, and meant to intimidate people into compliance with fear.
We’ve gotten to a point in our world where police are so obsessed with enforcing mask mandates – they are interrupting a church service!
Unconscionable.
A person deciding not to wear a mask shouldn’t be a crime.
It appears local leaders also felt the police crossed the line.
The Chronicle continued:
“Catholic Archbishop of Perth Timothy Costelloe said in a statement that it was a regrettable incident.
‘It is highly regrettable that the police felt themselves obliged to intervene during a religious service in one of Perth’s Catholic parishes in order to enforce the mask-wearing mandate,’ he said.”
As it turns out, police only found 5 people unmasked.
While this happened in Australia, Americans have also felt the heat from politicians.
The church where John MacArthur preaches was especially targeted – when government bureaucrats demanded he shut down or face massive fines – even arrest.
In fact, his church was terrorized by the government to the point that when the dust settled, and the COVID-19 hysteria diminished – his church won an $800,000 settlement for all the harassment.
A politician or police officer should never have the power to stop church services from gathering, or dictate how they worship (with a mask or without).
Cheers to all the brave pastors who have stood up, and continue to stand up, to the overreaching officials who try to intimidate them with various threats, including prison time.
Let us keep praying for those still facing threats from those in power.
As believers we are called to gather together and worship our living King, and we must continue to meet – whatever the cost.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
